Is This A Scam...

I just received an email headed:
Here is a copy of your reciept...followed by a very long mult digit number
It's from service@intl. paypal.com

//this charge will appear on your credit card statement as payment to PAYPAL *ANTENNADEAL//....(I don't have a credit card)

Merchant information
ANTENNADEALS followed by an email Addy and a website. There is also "instructions to merchant-none provided"
Shipping information-a name in Niagra Falls,ny. There is also "shipping method-none specified"
The amount...for an htv antenna...is $84.95USD

I am then reminded to "use PAYPAL next time"... (It looks like you already have a PAYPAL account)....(I do)

Lastly...// If you did not individualised(sp?) this payment you have the option to cancel this payment//

The above email is addressed to me at my email address...not to me by my full name as I'd expect PAYPAL to do.

What is it and what do I do.

Report it to Paypal.
Don't click on any links in the email - go to paypal manually and find the spoof or phising email address

Ignore it. If you don't have a credit card it can't appear on your statement. If you have a debit card and it DOES appear on your statement then contact your bank disputing authorisation. They will refund the money and launch an investigation. Have you bought the above-mentioned item?

I've just forwarded it to PAYPAL. And not to worry...I've not clicked on any links.

No...I've not bought the item. And particularly not to have it shipped to some unknown person. I'll check bank tomorrow.

Baldric's link works for me. I often refer them to [email protected], although
there are so many of these and the culprits are so hard to trace I doubt very much whether paypal can do much. (Has anyone ever heard of any prosecutions?)

Well, I've just clicked on the link, came up with

It always surprises me when people say -I've had an email about a purchase on a credit card but haven't got a credit card what shall I do? You do the same as those lottery wins you are told you have, even though you haven't bought a ticket - ignore! Why do you need to check your bank account if you haven't even got a credit card?

Don't be aggressive, chic, at least pasta has reported it here and done the right thing as to Paypal and not clicking the link - this may save some unsuspecting ABer from being duped.

I have just had the exact same email. This was not filtered out by hotmail but it definately is a scam. Just ignore it

my answer was not directed personally at Pasta it was a comment and advice that any 'iffy' receipt or email that comes into your inbox that you basically 'know' can't be true -then bin it -advice for anyone looking in later with the same problem -hope that clarifies.
