When this type of ban was introduced in Ontario a few years ago, the story made the news of a cop in a small town near me writing a mother a ticket for smoking with a minor (16) in the car, and while he was doing so the daughter calmly lit up a cigarette.

Good point Stuey. If there is only one minor in the car then he or she can legally smoke but the adults can't.
