when i miss feeding my cat for a few days it always brings a dead mole, rat, mouse and even sometimes a bird and leaves it on the step.it's a semi-wild cat had it for about eight years, never comes inside even in winter.only on a couple of ocassions since i've owned it has it done it when it's had food. why do cat's do this. i've heard a lot of good, articulate answers to questions since dabbling with this q&a thing, this one has puzzled me for years ?

thats very strange. with my cat, she 2 was semi wild, however she is very sweet and comes in every nite for food. she's out all nite, then sleeps on my bed all day. whenever we give her food like ham or chicken or custard (i no i no she'l get fat - its only a treat) within 5 minutes she's bring in an animal. usually a live mouse! ive always been told that its their way of giving you a present.

They are thanking us for feeding them and are providing for us like we do for them!

They probably think well she likes beef, pork and lamb she's gonna love this tender little morsel! deeeelicious!! Then when they go back to the doorstep and find its gone (removed whilst nearly throwing up usually!) they think aha I knew she'd enjoy that I'll go get her another sometime! and proceed to fall asleep in the sun!
