Monsters Inc.

Monsters Inc. is a fantasy adventure animated film. Directed by Peter Docter the film takes a children’s urban myth and expands it into one of the best films of all time. The ensemble voice cast is superb and includes Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi and James Coburn.

Monsters Inc. was a huge success for Pixar and Disney. The CGI were ground breaking at the time especially the hair on the monsters. The story is original which often makes a film popular and actors’ portrayal of the characters bring them to life. The little girl especially acts in exactly the way a little girl would, who had accidentally been lost in a world of monsters. The two chemistry and comedic sparking between the two leads played by Billy Crystal and John Goodman is phenomenal.

Every child knows there are monsters in the cupboard that come out at night when you are asleep to scare you. But who knew that they lived in a parallel world where the energy from those scared screams is used for power? The monsters are told that children are toxic so when Sully accidentally finds a little girl (Boo) who comes through the cupboard after him the results are hilarious. The darker under plot is that the scream factory is to be used to steal children and forcibly extract their screams to alleviate the energy crisis.
