I've completed the grid, but I'm struggling with 27d. The letters I have are T?TIG, and I assume N is the omitted letter. Toting seems fine for the definition part, but how does the wordplay for TOTIG...
The answer to this appears to be 'Wanda', but can anyone square that with the instruction that all the alphabetical clues are 'of a kind'? It doesn't seem to be of that kind at all!
