what is better out of the two people keep telling me the 360 breaks down regually but im not really a keen gamer and am only buying a console for the new gta also can anyone tell me the release date...

thinking about buying a 40gb PS3 for its blue ray capability, but wondered is the PS3 recordable, or is that limited to higher spec versions?
