How do I remove the coloured cover on 2008 Ford Focus side mirror

I have bought a replacement side mirror which has the wrong coloured cover. Since my original cover is good, I wish to swap them.

Anyone remember the funny Audi "Vorschprung Technic notice?

This went the rounds in the 1960's and was a funny spoof in "germanese" about not interfering with machines !Very grateful if anyone can recall it so that I can print it out for my computer...
