Fuel consumption -Renault 1.5 86hp desiel

Hi Can you help I have a Modus 1.5 desiel 86hp. Around town I get arround 55 mpg which is fine. But on the motorway (at speeds under 70mph!!!!) and on a journey I struggle to get 55-56 to a gallon....
