installing a multifuel stove

My husband has just installed a multifuel stove to our 1930's semi, the chimney is an existing one & has been used as an open fire with a log basket ,burning logs & coal for about 15 years...

I have a pear tree that is so laden with pears that they are snapping the branches, will they ripen if taken off the tree & put on egg trays in the greenhouse ?
