scratched C.D

Does anyone know the easiest way to repair a scratched c.d or d.v.d.? I heard something on the steve wright show, and I'm sure that it was an apple or a pear to be rubbed over the disc from the centre...

Toyota Avensis

The headlights on my 2003 Avensis seem very poor. I require full beam to see properly on dimly lit roads. Anyone else have this problem.
