restrictions after being convicted

a relative has been found guilty of sexual assault,he has been placed on the sex offenders list for 10 years there is also a restriction that he cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 18...

if a person has pleaded not guilty and been convicted of the offence and sentenced to nine months prison do they serve the whole sentence or released early for good behavior
