cleaning a sofa?!

Hi,has anyone got any tips on how to clean up a fabric sofa with stains etc,i can machine wash all the covers but not the actual sofa,any tips on how to scrub it up plz?!

Want to be moved,but council wont move me for some time,how can i make them move me,i hate where i live and cant afford private renting again,have 2 children boy and girl,surely they cant share a room...
