How can I start to find my natural father when I don't have basic information i.e his place or date of birth? I was born during the war, he was a soldier and I cannot find out which regiment he was...

How can I discover which regiments stayed at a particular barracks at a particular time? This would be during World War 2. Thank you in anticipation!
