Auto standby/turn o9ff

I have a Samsung notebook V25 which is running Windows XP Home. When i switch on it boots up then goes immediately into standby. I can bring it out of standby but after a few mins drops backmin again....

hdd inaccessable

my friends computer keeps booting round from the post screen, It does give the options to start in safe mode, with cd rom support ect but which ever option you choose it just reboots to the post...
