why do pages in my Firefox sometimes show feint Quicktime icons and how can I stop it?

Network Cold Spots

Is there any USB type plug in device I can use to increase my laptops (iBook) receiving power ? There are several 'cold spots' in the building I live in, where my network reception comes and goes.
