Does anyone know the law on undertaking on a one way street?

I was going round a one way system in the right hand lane and the road had a sharp right bend. as I went round the right hand bend, a truck overtook me on the left of me and the back of his truck hit...

FENCES

Does anyone know the law with regards to which way round fencing should be. ie should pole side be facing the owners side?
