Jeans wearing out!

Why do my jeans always wear out at the crotch? My jeans (and to some extent most of my trousers) always wear out at the seam in the crotch, normally right alongside the seam itself. What's annoying is...

plastering over paint

Is it possible to plaster/skim over a painted interior wall? Wall is plastered and painted (in matt paint) but ti isn't very flat.
