After all that has happened over the past year why does Blunkett have the full support of Downing Street. During the previous scandal, Downing street put out notices that they are fully behind him and the sordid affair unravelled and in the end he had to resign. Now again it looks like he has to go over the shares scandal (see The Times today, Blunkett knew very well what he was doing was wrong and had been practically warned not to do it), and why cant Downing street stay mum for a while and see how it goes without having to jump to his defence all the time. The man is a liability and Blair would be better off without his dead weight. Should he stay or should he go this time.

Let him stay and bring Blair and Co down. Sooner the better.
Like most of new Labour Blunkett couldn't lie straight in bed, so leave him in he'll fit nicely!
I thought he went the last time round! Surprise, surprise he raised his head again. I get the feeling he'll be another Mandelson. Whatever he does, he'll always be looked after by the old boy network that I thought only existed with the Tories.
well now you know obonio ,All politicians are only out to feather their own nests and will do anything to stay in power. just look at the bunch in power now ,look at the rubbish they took over from .
jacko, I couldn't have put it any better! As I keep saying, all politicians are liars and just look after themselves - this is one profession that belies the adage that there is honour among thieves - there's not one iota of honour amongst the whole bunch!!
he should go!!!! fast...he is really arrogant in the way he talks..walks and conducts himself..his body language screams i am the big i am...i dont think he should have come back from the last scandal..he had his chance and blew it..and it looks like he has blown it again...

it doesnt matter whos support he has and hasnt got now hes just resigned!

Great news isnt? Lets hope (I wish) that a few more MPs go the same way. From the Prime minister down, they are all beginning to think that they can walk on water. Just returned from living in Cyprus and I thought that there goverment was bad enough. Spin the bottle and that was the new rule for the day. All these new rules and regulations that this goverment is passing or trying to pass. Must be done the same way.
ha ha its pretty much like spin the bottle here isnt it? i know he was wrong but i do like david blunkett. at least he owns up to his mistakes which is more than can be said for most of them!

Do you think the fact that he 'owned up to his mistakes' had anything to do with the press catching him with both: (a) his pants down, and (b) his hand in the cookie jar?

The real issue is that (rightly) the general public is cynical of politics and politicians, and expects little from them. As a consequence, they feel little need to deliver.

It can only get worse until they are held to account. How did Labour get back in anyhow?

So the press caught him both times, like theyve caught numerous other celebs and politicians. At the end of the day we're all human and we all make mistakes. Weve all done things that we wish we hadnt or have hoped we'd get away with and its an unfortunate world when you get found out. But just because they are politicians doesnt make them perfect.

Oh and Labour got back in because the majority of people in this country voted for them, as if you didnt know, lol
