Wait and see if you get the job

Then pack up your tools and leave Selco

Yes 9th is next Saturday

Be honest and say you need to give notice. Your new employer will NOT be impressed if you stitch you employer up. Believe me, don't go there

Hope they ask how much notice do I need to give

I think you'll have to be honest and tell them the truth, two weeks notice is needed in your current job.

Hopefully it's ok as it a permanent position

You have been advised what to do. If they offer you the job say you have to give two weeks notice. As you are only working 10 hours a week you could ask if you could come to the new job in your spare time

make sure you understand if you have a probationary period

Would have thought so every job does

Does it? I've never had one

Don't make assumptions Abbey. Ask! Otherwise you'll leave the interview with questions...write them down or make notes of what you want to know on your phone.

Having to give notice of resignation doesn’t mean an employer has to enforce it and it might be you can leave before this new job starts, if offered.

TCL makes a good point - indeed some firms would rather you didn't work your notice out, and left sooner (happened to me in my first job).

But how would Selco cover the ten hours?

This is playing fast and loose with corporate structure.

Remind selco that they were very impressed with that other employee who covered for your absence and did such a good job they asked him to coach you.

Selco may be happy to let you go before your 2 weeks.

If you get offered the job ask them!

Tell them that for the first week you could still do 20 hours plus the weekend if you do have to work your notice.

I darent ask who this new job is with!

Abbey, I told you weeks ago to speak to your manager and ask if Selco will let you off working your notice.  Since you only do 10 hours a week they will probably agree.
