I used to get alerts when someone answered one of my questions but now I don't. Is it something I've configured wrongly or do you not send e-mails to answered questions any more?

You do if you subscribe to a question.
I get them Grandpappy but they did stop a while ago when Hotmail suddenly decided they were spam, so perhaps that's where yours have gone aswell.
Yep, please add us to your trusted sender lists.

Also, to get emails just subscribe to a question: http://www.theanswerb...ribing-to-a-question/
I find it a little overwhelming. I subscribe so I can easily find a thread again, and then the e-mail gets clogged up with alerts. It'd be nice to seperate showing in the subscribed thread box from the actual e-mail alert.
I'll have a think O_G. I see your issue.
Cheers.
Sorry if I am not comprehending matters.

What are 'alerts' in relation to 'e/mails'.?

Ron.
If you select the subscribe option at the bottom of the OP you get an email whenever somebody replies to the question.
Ron, if you subscribe to a thread, Ed sends you an email when someone replies to it (or, indeed, if you respond on your own thread).

However - since we all have a subscribed threads box down bottom right on the page, can't we just look at that, instead of getting all the Lerts?
Hi boxtops...I was wondering if perhaps there was more than just an e/mail.
( Alert Box on screen, maybe) The picture is now clear to me.

Anyway, as subscribed threads notifications come-up on the right hand side of my screen, I no longer need the e/mails from AB; so I have directed all to go into my junk folder, which I can empty with a single click.

Ron.
Hi Ron,

Why not just use the "my profile" feature to overview your activity on the site, instead of subscribing to us and them marking us as spam!

Every time we're marked as spam the reputation of the site goes down slightly - meaning people who want the emails might have them blocked by their providers. I understand the current system isn't ideal however.
Ed... I appreciate it is possible to just work with one's profile page, but it is a lot more fiddly than eyes to the right to see what subscribed threads are doing.

I didn't realise that my ISP put e/mails into my junk folder. I thought that I had just programmed them in my computer to go that way.

Ron.
I can't claim expertise but I'd suspect if it is a setting on your e-mail client, then that's unlikely to be fed back to the outside world. Unless, of course, your AV was taking note, I suppose.
O_G....Now that I think I know what you were getting at, I am wondering if it would be possible for all questions and answers to be automatically 'subscribed' and e/mail alerts were no longer sent, unless requested by a button. We would still have the 'Subscribed Threads' listed on the right hand side of our screens, and the Ed would be pleased that I would no longer have to have my computer programmed to send them to the 'spam box'. Also it would have the advantage that I would not, as I sometimes do, forget to subscribe.

Ron.
