Gravatar Update Issue

Some have been having trouble with Gravatars updating recently.

I gave the techies a nudge, they looked into it and said it must be a problem at the Gravatar end.

As such there's little we can do to force gravatars to change.

We hope they'll fix the problem in a timely fashion.

So why are people able to update their avatars on other websites using gravatar with no problem but only here is it a problem? I still think it's AB mate, sorry.

I agree with china, the technies need to have another look, other forums that use gravatar work fine, its only AB that has this error..

I have been onto Gravatar and deleted the images that are showing when I visit AB the Waxwing from one Email address and the poppies from my other one My Image checks ok with them too

It must be partly an AB problem because in some case the updated avatar appears on the Profile page but not on the threads

^ 2 shortplanks, for example, has two avatars on here: a picture of poppies on his posts but a picture of two short planks on his Profile page

I'd guess it's a caching issue with choopa.net (who host AB)

I am still waiting for the Ed to dispute my opinion that the problems concerning Avatars and the Back Arrow are 'Internal Server Errors'.

The messages for Internal Sever Errors which you see relate to our ad partners, and are entirely different severs from the ones on the site.

As I've said previously, the techies will dedicate a little time to this this week at some point. There's little else to do until they've had a chance to look at it properly.

Try Internet Explorer, press Ctrl + shift + delete to clear history, cache & temporary internet files.

I'm seeing if clearing all my pics on Gravatar works - now just three there over there.

Perhaps your Techies need to dedicate more than a little time on the issues which are causes for concern. Get out the whip.:-)

Hi tamborine- clearing the cache etc can make a difference in some cases (which is why some users who mustn't do this still see me without my 3 week old Christmas hat on).
But it doesn't solve the underlying problem. I clear my history, cookies, saved passwords etc thoroughly and regularly using Tools/Under the Bonnet, and I sign out and back into AB, but it doesn't make any difference to my avatar on AB compared to Gravatar

Done all that, still not seeing my Christmas avatar, although it's clearly my current one on Gravatar.
