I have a very nosy neighbor. I feel very uncomfy as she stares at us every time we enter or leave the house. So what i would like is a very bright annoying xmas flashing light to go in the left side of my bay window (facing her) so hopefully she will close her blinds and stop nosing! Any suggestions would be very welcome!! thanks xx
Much as I would want to put a 7000 watt bulb that shines directly into her bedroom, I wouldn't do it. However, irritated and angry she makes you I'd resist. In my experience neighbourly disputes have the propensity to become the most vitriolic, the most petty and the most costly.
Why don't you look directly at her, smile very sweetly and give her a big wave? She will either look away in embarrassment or gratefully wave back as you've relieved her boredom for a while.
Barmaid is quite correct in that the last thing you should do is start a neighbour's war; nothing good ever came of that.
Is she actually standing at the window, or is that her kitchen is at the front and she spends a lot of time there or her armchair faces the TV which is under her living room window?
My neighbour knows all the comings and goings in our square. She's not particularly nosey, just housebound and interested in people. We call her our unofficial neighbourhood watch - she's a treasure.
She might be lonely, or just wondering why you don't wave to her, and how unsociable it is not to do so.... You don't need Neighbourhood Watch with a neighbour like that.
I have made great efforts with her in the past but basically we had to call the police (about a year ago) out to speak to them because of the disgusting, loud and offensive language her 14 yr son was using whilst playing on his xbox to the point we could no longer sit in our back garden. The nosing that she does is more of a narky stare!
