Why are these appearing in threads ? When you click on them they appear to take you to some sort of advertising.

Red underlined words such as AB Editor are just links to what they say.
Ooh that's wierd. It didn't work. Sorry.
You've probably got some "shopping" add in installed on your browser.

On most browsers you can see what add-ins you have by selecting tools > manage add-ins.... have a look and see if any sound likely.

Hi TOWIE.

Where do they appear, everywhere on the site, or just like the ones above? There are a few trigger words like this, but they rarely lead to advertising.

I suggest you check you've not installed (by mistake or otherwise) a plugin or possibly malware for your browser which inserts ads into the page.
The red words above are not underlined, so could yours be being hi-lighted by a spellcheck maybe?
Could be that I suppose.

I suggest a scan with an updated malwarebytes.
I get them since changing to Chrome.

It's a spellchecker
Your spell checker takes you to adverts if you click on the words?????

Strange.
How do you work that spell checker on chrome ?
Right click on the underlined words and select the correct spelling.
