Can We Have A Short-Term Edit Please ?

Another forum I subscribe to allows me to edit my contribution for about five minutes after posting.
Would it be possible to introduce that here - it's muck better than having to post a further entry to correct typos.

The regular typo gets through and looking as if one is a moron forevermore is not something one wishes. It's a further stress one doesn't need in one's life. Not sure why folk insist this function should be short term though. It's quite possible not to re-read the thread again for quite some time so it makes no sense to take such a reasonable request away after a while. The fear of some substantially altering their posts and invalidating their responses is clearly invalid. It could be treated as any other abuse of the system, as it is at other sites. The changes would still be in the log.
