How Much Would You Pay Per Month To Remove Adverts From Ab?
128 Answers
Afternoon all!
We've been considering giving you the opportunity to remove adverts across the site with Google's new "contributor" option.
This would mean that if you wanted to remove ads, and continue to support the site in a small way, you could do so.
Obviously this wouldn't apply to everyone, but there's a few on here who might fancy removing adverts while still contributing to the continued existence of the site :)
Anyway, how much would you consider a reasonable price?

I think ab should pay me for my time spent on their site.... The company I work for does :)

We're planning to make the site responsive some time this year, so yes McFluff, a better mobile experience would be part of it.
We might consider rolling out a adblocker guilt thing at the same time?
It's a good point regarding "refunds" for suspension etc... It's interesting. I'd like to know about what everyone would feel was fair regarding this.
The prices suggested all seem reasonable, I think it would have to be under a tenner and most likely much lower?
Question: Would it have to be ALL ads, or just some, or maybe just sponsorship of categories is OK?

Is an adblocker guilt thing where you are asked to donate if you use adblocker?.....I'd go with that if I didn't want ads.
Refunds for suspension? I'd say tough......we get ourselves suspended when it happens......well except for the one time I didn't break a rule but annoyed Ed so much he zapped me.....but I got a tee shirt out of it so wouldn't expect a refund.....☺
I don't know about your last two questions.....your site so your decision maybe?

Why should I pay to see 40% or maybe more of the questions on here, asking for answers to crosswords/puzzles etc.
Also Ed, while you are on the subject of asking members for their comments/ideas, nothing seems to happen.
A few months ago you asked for ideas on improving the site, and many members gave their opinions including me, and I don't think one has been used.

I wouldn't pay a penny....personally.
Answerbank to me is a website that provides answers by people knowledgeable in their field and give their expertise free of charge and to ask them to pay as well, seems ludicrous.
However, I do feel that Chatterbank posters should be charged and i would consider £10 a month reasonable.

I think it's very unfair to hit adblocker users with a guilt trip when for the vast majority it's because the site just doesn't work for them when ads are about. When you've been frozen out time after time, waited ages for pages to load, lost posts before you submit, have the text do weird things and personally had to shut down and restart my laptop countless times what do you expect people to do?
