When replying to posts I like to address them to the person who posted them.

I generally copy and paste their username especially on the long and complicated ones, but I find that it also copies the words 'Avatar Image' as well as the username.

Is there any way this can be eliminated instead of gong to the trouble of highlighting and deleting those unwanted words each time?

maybe you're taking your copying just a little too far left of the name? I've just tried it and I don't get this - but if I allow the cursor to stray a bit to the left it highlights the avatar as well, and this then shows up as "Avatar Image" when I paste.

works okay for me- but I started on the right and dragged cursor back.
Maybe it's easier if you go back to user profile and copy from there
anotheoldgit I find it helps if you copy from the end of the username, not the beginning
I do exactly as FF and hc do, start at the end of the name.
I do the same.
Me too. Best to do it backwards!
I also start the the c&p from the end of the name, tigdloehtona

Thanks for that advice, start at the end and move left, ah, got it, the Arabic way. :0)

No to be serious thank you again for that advice it really does work if one is very careful.
But I am struggling with your name Mamyalynne, because your name is so long it goes between two lines of text, which in turn gave me this:

Mamyalynne

I do

Try it.
Hold down the key above CTRL and the arrow key pointing left and unshade the extra words in blue until only the name is highlighted.
Just type it?
Mamyalynne - no problem for me, aog

Also, of course, you can delete any unwanted text after pasting it

Now why didn't anyone else suggest that, you are 'O' so clever, you put all your fellow ABers to shame.

^ c&p

It doesn't go onto 2 lines on my PC.

Abbreviations are fine though for longer user names.

Things get stranger and stranger, I tried doing what you suggested Sharon and guess what it started to highlight the post above it.
Whats wrong with just typing the username!
TBH it's far quicker to type the name or a shortened version - AOG- than fiddlearsing about with C&P

Seems it didn't work for you either talbot in my, "Has This School Discriminated Against This Parent Because Of Her Religion"? News Thread.

Reference:
/// Avatar Image cassa333 This woman is offended for a reason. ///
Are you now not going to be nasty and sarcastic to the others that have suggest the same thing AOG?
lol ... most of what I do linking one thread to another doesn't get spotted ... well done tigdloehtona

If it is towards the end of the replies, by the time one has gone to the top of the thread so as to type their answer, one sometimes can't remember who one was addressing it to or can't remember how to spell the name.

I suppose it is my age, anyway that's my excuse.
