Also tired of hearing the words safe, safely, save lives, control the virus, infections, lock down etc etc. Every news bulletin invariably has some bad news about the virus and even if they can bare to give anything encouraging, there's always a 'but' at the end. I have stopped watching the news on TV now, I'm sure they revel in the doom and gloom.

I would like a bit more information about the virus and how the vaccines are coming along. I can do without all the personal stories of how people have coped, are coping, how many people are on Brighton beach blah blah. As soon as someone comes on in their home showboating on how they've baked cakes for every member of the local NHS, while home schooling three...

Yep. Getting sick of seeing it mentioned on here too, Dave :-/
To a point, yes - I want to be up to date especially as regards what's happening in my area but of course it has pervaded all of our lives in many ways.

Returning soaps and dramas will feature it to reflect life too so it will always be with us in one shape or form,or certainly for a long time ahead.
Fed up of going into shops with tannoys constantly telling us to distance, sanatize, wear masks, stay safe!
Reminds me of Big Brother with the tvs everywhere telling people what to believe.
Just as long as something people are denying the existence of this virus and putting two fingers up to the recommendations of the Government regarding, travel, quarantineing, masks and voluntary isolation then we we have to get used to media coverage, certainly for the next 12 ,oaths.

Whine,whine,whine.
Just be happy to be alive.
I am, but that's human nature.

The novelty of Covid has worn off now, people want to start living their lives around it, instead of being dominated by it, which is why we will return to normality sooner rather than later in my view.

Ha ha yes quite.

I’d like to see Horizon make a documentary on whether there’s any intelligent life in the government’s quarantine regulations

More chance of finding a one ended stick.
//...but of course it has pervaded all of our lives in many ways.//

It isn't the virus that's pervaded all our lives, Mamy. It's the government's handling of it. There was a virus pandemic very similar to this in 1968. It killed 50,000 people in the UK and at least one million worldwide. It barely got a mention on the telly and certainly did not occupy politicians' every waking hour.
The media have got their teeth into a major news item, and, until something as big comes along, they won't let go. Remember Greta Thunberg? As soon as coronavirus came along, she was yesterday's news, and the same will (no doubt) happen with this virus.
Yes, of course, everyone is sick of hearing about the Coronavirus. But it is for our safety.
But of course it has pervaded all of our lives in many ways, our youngsters off school, those we know who have been ill and some died, people struggling with work situations, the irritations of lost holidays and tussles for refunds.

Have Governments across the globe dealt with something so new in a satisfactory way?

Not all have.
//Yes, of course, everyone is sick of hearing about the Coronavirus. But it is for our safety//
Its also for our own safety that we wear seat belts, dont smoke, and follow the green cross code but its not shoved down our throats at every waking oppurtunity.
Ich et al
With a new virus that has killed 45,000 people in 6 months, mainly the old no vaccine or drugs that are effective in our defence, what is your suggestion?
Concern
Quarantine, masks etc depend on the concern, responsibility and response of the great British people and to this end I am disappointed.
Quarantine is not perfect, far from it,but that is all we have to stop another 20,000 avoidable deaths before Christmas.
It's not new, Mamy.

There have been epidemics and pandemics like this on numerous occasions before. What's new is that governments are trying to convince their populations that they can prevent its spread and be "kept safe." They can't. Not without isolating themselves from the rest of the world and walking about in Hazmat suits they can't. The sooner that is accepted the better. Those that want to isolate can and those who don't can get on with life. I'm sorry that it may cause the health services some inconvenience but that's what they are there for. The NHS is treating very little else at the moment and it doesn't want to treat Covid either so I'm not too sure what they are doing.
The only voice of reason that Ive seen over the last couple of months or so on here (re: covid) has been NJ.
I rarely watch the news anyway. I catch the headlines and then look online for the facts. I don't do "cheery" or "heartwarming" about anything and feel generally that if watching the sad worrying awful stuff would do one bit of good then I will watch it but it doesn't so I don't. I do donate where money is needed, not to all appeals but to some but that helps. Being shocked or upset by news footage helps nobody.
I got tired of it quite a while ago. I agree about the bad news and as you say anything positive seems to have but attached.
I haven't listened to the news willingly for a very, very long time, sick to death of it all now and yes, there IS far too much doom and gloom.
