How about having a poll for how many 'strikes' (questions/answers removed) an AB member is allowed before they are 'out' (banned, and I mean permanently - no creeping to the Eds)? 'Obvious' spammers would still only be allowed 1, of course. I'd go for 6 - it would allow the odd indiscretion, but hopefully get rid of the guilty 'frequent posters'.
Yes, I know, they could easily rejoin under a different username, but they would lose their 'cherished' one.
Do you mean 6 over all the time someone has been on here? Possibly over the 13 years I've been here I might have had 6 removed especially as some mods go mad and remove a swathe of posts at once, the good with the bad. Perhaps if it was 6 in a week I might consider it. Perhaps.
Bobbi...I'd guess that's to end any conversation...heated discussion?...that might develop.
Obvious spammers are persistent as we all know...they keep keep coming back as many times as necessary.
And, why should people be banned for what they ask/ post...unless offensive/crude,etc?
As has been said, it wouldn't work. The moderation is far too erratic. Someone has just had a post removed for asking if goat meat is halal. Against the rules? I think not. Go figure!
Basically, I think I agree with Maggiebee too. If I mentioned AB to friends and relations they would never have heard of it. It's just something to do my case and to while some time away because I can't get out and about.
///Is AB always like this bickering and dissatisfaction?///
Part of life's rich tapestry......
It has been for over a decade and in fact there is LESS antagonism now. Gone are the days of the entertaining fights among multiple posters and instead we have these wannabe antagonists.
I have suggested to the Editorial team, om many occasions over the years that the only function of the Mods should be to remove illegal ads and let the fights burn themselves out.
