Ed, Where Is The Rationale?

I posted a GMEB thread at 03:16 today. Some 18 minutes later a duplicate GMEB thread was also posted. My thread was later removed.
Spare Ed has already posted:

Why is consistency not applied?

Is this some sort of bragging rights? //and I had 50+ responses // Yes, well. Twenty of them from "train boy" within 45 minutes?

Ducksie, be assured I don’t take sides - ever. Because of the on-going nonsense here. the Ed wants only one Good Morning thread and this morning, rightly or wrongly, I made a choice between a busy thread where people were chatting and an unused thread.
Mods need the wisdom of Solomon and the skin of an elephant but you can't please all of the people all of the time and as human beings, despite best efforts, none of us can claim to be perfect. Perhaps those of you who do have the hang of it will be kind enough to tell the rest of us how it's done.
In future, if I am around, any second Good Morning thread will be removed - but don't complain if you're part of it.

I hope I'm looking at this as impartially as possible as I rarely post on any GMEB threads and that has always been the case, going back to when WBM did it. I'm not fully clear on the Ed's view but it's been clear to most that there are 2 warring factions going back for years. I can also understand why neither groups particularly want to make up and don't really see why they should. The problem with only one thread allowed is there is almost a ridiculous race to see who can make one first. One day it's one set of responders, another it's the other group.
I also think both should be allowed, maybe with a slightly different title agreed. Most of the posters in both sets are long standing members and their loyalty to the site should be respected. There does seem to be an air of regular users constantly getting their knuckles rapped by the eds but the weirdest of new users are treated far more considerately, even when they are quite clearly wind-ups.

I'm probably not alone in wishing the lovely Emmie was back in the hot seat. To me, she seemed to have the knack of holding together a nice GMEB thread. When she went into hospital, I seem to remember her entrusting the thread to Minty who I think makes a great job too. I don't participate very much as either too dopey to concentrate at 03.00 hrs or rushing around at 08.30 hrs. but I always read the thread at some point. I do agree one thread is enough ....there was a time when there were threads at all times through the day and evening/night and I felt it was too,too much.
