Private Messaging - Sensible Suggestion this Time. Honest!

Hi AB Ed,

Just wondering about private messaging. Not like an MSN thingy... not quite that advanced.

But just a forum where you could swap email addresses with other members without the world and his wife seeing. I've had to create email addresses in the past when I've been sent music files or indeed quizs as my actual email address has my full name in it.

It might also be useful for those who wish to hurl insults at each other all day and night.

Just a thought.

You are right, it would be a great way for people to communicate privately, but a few users on this site prefer their hurling of insults to be more public and draw attention to themselves, and so they would not use it, everyone else is pretty sane and normal though like you and I and so they would benefit i guess :))

Hmmm, I think instant messageing would ruin this site.
it would encourage people to have slanging matches and probably slow it right down.
I do think some work could be done to improve communication on here though. I like your idea of a forum, but maybe if it was a private forum/profile where the AB user sets who they want to let in their profile and read the details on it.
Or something similar along those lines...

You could opt in and out of private messaging, ignore those you wish to, theres always an option on these things to block people.

I kinda thnk its a good idea but do worry the site would become more of a dating site.

People on here manage to hook up without the private messaging facility. I think that would increase 100 fold without it.

I knew there were infatuations but did not realise they went as far as actual dating.

I just sort of meant as a mates thingy for those of us who absolutely and uttely detest things like MySpace and Facebook etc...

I can think of at least 15 couples who have got it together at least once on here and Im not on the incrowd so there has to be loads more.

Well in all honesty GS, if it's done on a private messaging thingy then it's still going to go over the heads of most people like me anyway so hopefully we won't notice the site turning in to a stange version of match.com!
