my house is on a corner with a sort of yarden all down the side next to the pavement, and it gets a lot of litter thrown in by passers by...

the other day i found a screwed up ball with an envelope and a letter in it - on my doorstep!!
it had someones name and adddress in it... which is just over the road, in a differnt street

any ideas what i should do?

im quite annoyed about it

not suggesting sueing them or anything, but would like to teach them a lesson, as i have no doubt they will do it again as they would pass my house on the way to the shops regularly.

cheers

We might see you on the telly when you and your neighbour start feuding.
We often get things blowing down our street when its gusty. Sometimes
looks like them tumbleweeds you see on westerns.

Don't understand why you're annoyed? It could simply have blown out of a rubbish bag?

What to do with it? Put it in your bin and think no more about it, life's too short to get annoyed over something so trivial.
i would take it back and hopefully embarrass them, i hate litterbugs!
How do you know they haven't just put it in their paper re-cycling and the wind blew it there?
Post it back through their letterbox with a little message inside? Leave the message to your discretion!
are you sure they have deliberately thrown it into your garden? or could it have come out of their bin whilst it was being emptied or in the recent windy weather. why not just put it through their letterbox saying it was found in your garden, they may not even be aware.
I don't consider the deliberate utter disrespect of someone slinging their garbage into your garden particularly trivial. Or flytipping anywhere on your property for that matter. But I don't really know what one can do about it, it's the way other people think. I just don't understand other people, why they failed to be brought up properly.
Oh please, lol- get a grip!

It's a letter that very well could have blown out of a rubbish bag, recycle box by accident, and you're honestly gonna get all Chuck Norris over it?

Seriously? LOL

it was in a screwed up ball, and wasnt there a few hours earlier .. it'd have to have crossed a main road, gone round a small corner and up some steps...and there was no wind at all and it was spotlessly clean.

i get a lot of litter and i can tell when its blown or dumped usually

when i say annoyed i am not really, i havent given it a lot of though for about a week - just remembered now... more just irked at the cheek... i am sick of clearing up after people.
plus i hate littering.

like i said i am not suggesting some big thing, just some little way to teach them a lesson and make them think twice.

i was going to just stuff it back through their box... but want them to know why
I'm in the middle of a block of 5 terraced houses. We seem to get everyone elses rubbish, wither acciedentally or not. Once a week I pick it up. It's not even half a bin-liner full.
Question Author
chuck norris? i think maybe now you need to get a grip boo.

it fine that you dont understand why its irritated me... you dont need to
Question Author
any ideas what to write on the note?
But you, and others are assuming it was deliberately thrown out.
Question Author
my mate suggested making up a fake fine letter, haha... but not sure i could be arsed doing that
The situation is that litter is often being thrown in. No reason to believe this wasn't also. But it is difficult to act wthout proof. Public standards seem to have fallen very far these days. This sort of thing is not uncommon because folk don't care; they think they have the right to dump on others.
unless you saw it being thrown in you cannot say its been thrown in deliberately.

maybe you should look at the entry point for blown in litter, is there anyway you can improve it (bigger fence?)
I wouldn't worry about it, there's every chance it was an accident - wind, particularly, there's a lot of it about this week.

If it happens again, then start to think about revenge.

"Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action" (Goldfinger, I think).

im pretty sure it was boo...i have had many letters, even bank statements etc, that appear to have blown around, ive done nothing but bin them...even though some have probably been dumped... this one is different.
I would post it back through their door
Question Author
the circumstance tell me it wasnt blown in by mistake.

it was thrown.

any ideas what to write please?
You need to start an excel spread sheet.. :-)
