Renault Scenic

We have a Renault Scenic which is an 04 model. One of our two keys isn`t working and on making enquiries to Renault was told a new one will cost £200.
Is there any other way we can obtain one cheaper? I realise this is because of the electronics which will probably entail work but it sounds a lot. Does anyone have any experience with the Scenic. Thanks.

A nice little earner for Renault garages; charging £200 for something that costs less than £5 to manufacture.

Before giving up on the key – check the battery and that its polarity is correct.

My other half owns an 04 Megane, for which the local Renault dealer wanted £140 for a spare key.

So shop around and you might get one a little cheaper.

There are many companies such as this one who will supply a key cheaper than Renault if you need one.

Type "replacement renault key" into Google and look for a local company.

the following is an auto locksmith that repair those keys for around £23.00 they are advertising on e-bay....just type "scenic key card" in the e-bay search

Thank you all. That is a big help. I found a mention through this info that as from 2006 you won`t beable to buy a new key card from Renault without suppling the VIN number and proof of ownership of the vehicle.
Perhaps it`s doesn`t apply when you have a key which needs repairing.
I`m using the suggestions so thank you.
