For several years I have been eating porridge for breakfast, it has really helped my slow and unpredictable bowel and tum! I like the coarse "Old fashioned" Scotts porridge oats made with a little semi-skimmed milk with a few dried cranberries and raisins added (no sugar) then microwaved just for 2 mins. I like the consistency so thick that a spoon stands up in it LOL! Lately I have added pomegranate pips and fresh figs - a real yummy treat!

Now I read that research has proved that porridge IS healthy, good-o! :)

Indeed it is, Ann - porridge oats are ideal for cholesterol.
Not to rain on your parade, but it sounds like you have to eat more than a portion for breakfast for it to have any effect.
I love porridge and really do need to make the effort to eat more of it. Lovely with a banana mashed in :)

I love porridge too but can only eat it in the very depths of winter otherwise i overheat. Oat cereals with cold skimmed milk and blueberries are my favourite.
