Ipod shuffle

I have recently been given one by my employer, i get a green than orange light intermitent whilst charging on my laptop, i have tried to add downloaded music but the ipod still flashing when trying to use, and yes have charged for more than  4 hrs, am i going mad! yes i have looked on apple ipod helpinfo but nothing to help, i most be particularly blonde at the moment!!

Are you connecting a usb cable directly from your laptop to the ipod when charging? I tried it via a 4 way usb hub and it wouldn't charge and also through the usb port on my keyboard. I left it for hours thinking it was charging when it wasn't. Worth a try?

Thank you for this information, i have successfully charged it now, i was told that you have to run ur laptop without it going to standby mode, so on set up changed, crazy really
