Pantene Shampoo

I  had my hair coloured a week ago and since I got back from the hair dressers and been washing my hair myself - all the colour has come out - well an awful lot - it was a purple (and much nicer than it sounds (LoL)).  I have since rnag the hairdressers and the first question she asked me was what shampoo I ahd been using - I told her pantene and she said that this is the reason why and that Pantene is reknown for stripping the colour from your hair - even the colour keeper which I had been using - she also went on to mention Vosene and head & Shoulders which I could understand as they are medicated , but Pantene???  She is recolouring my hair again tomorrow, but is this a ploy to get me to buy expensive salon products or has anybody else heard this??  Any shampoo recommendations?

I heard that about Pantene years ago, they told me on a hairdressing course i went on. With colours like Red and Purple they do tend to run quite a bit on the first few washes, i used to colour my hair lots but even though it ran the colour didn't fade, i would probably have used Dove or Fructis. Try and get one that says its for coloured hair.

The same thing happened to me when I had my hair dyed red.  I can't remember what shampoo I was using at the time but I'm sure it wasn't Pantene.  My hairdresser told me that it happened all the time with certain types of hair dye.  I think Timotei or Palmolive are fairly gentle shampoos, they might be worth a try.

TRESemme do a shampoo for coloured hair which is pretty good at maintaining colour.

I was using Pantene colour - but my hairdresser still reckons it was the shampoo - hey ho at least they are doing it again for free!!

sorry i dont have any recommendations but i did hear a couple of years ago from a friend that her hairdresser had told her if she continued to use pantene products on her hair that she would refuse to cut it again as they are supposedly really bad for your hair. Not sure how much truth is in it but i for one havent use pantene since!

How much does a cockney pay for shampoo?  �1.10.  Paand-ten...Pantene, get it?  Oh dear.

As a dyer of some 10 years i would say avoid shampoos that contain sodium laureth sulphate, as it strips the life (&colour) out of your hair sooo quickly!
