The best performance of Great Britain for 100 years will be remembered for many things but people shouldn't forget the REAL heroes behind it all - the parents/grandparents/family members of the athletes who encouraged and helped them to get where they are now. Without the involvement, help and encouragement of those people, things might be different. They all deserve medals too.

I feel no way different now than before the games .

The athletes success as has not/ will not in any way have any effect on my life .

Any why is the word 'heroes' being used as a description - in what way are they heroes ?
don't forget you are now living in a sporting superpower, Bazile. May's going to issue gongs all round

If you once lived next to the man who delivered the groceries to Laura Trott's nanny, you probably qualify for one yourself
My ex girlfriend used to live next door to Desmond Douglas - the former British No 1, Table Tennis player .

I claim my Gong
They should get a medal for doing what as parents/grandparents/family members they should do.

Support each other?

OK!!
I second that Bazile
arise, Sir Bazile
I claim a gong for not having watched even one second of the olympic coverage

their reward will be a warm glow of satisfaction, PP. Perhaps those whose offspring struck gold will be allowed to wallow in it longer than those whose children merely got a bronze?
Perhaps we should coin a new word; Spero (Sporting Hero).

I feel sad that it's over. I absolutely loved it.
It must be quite a come-down for the athletes after such a wonderful Games, and know they've got the long old slog for another 4 years til the next one. Of course, the families are vital to that, too.
I also haven't watched any of the Olympics apart from the few seconds I couldn't miss when I switched on to watch the news although obviously nothing much happened recently as the news was all Olympics. The real heroes are people like lifeboatmen who risk their own lives to help others not just win a race. However, I am pleased GB did so well but wouldn't lose any sleep if we didn't get any medals at all.
