What Buried A Fox Cubs Head In My Orange Tree Pot?

I recently found a complete fox cubs head buried under the soil next to my orange tree in a large pot. It was a real shock! Any thoughts on what and why it was buried? Thanks

Sounds like a person to me tbh, doesn't sound typical animal behaviour to bury something in a pot :/

Sometimes foxes eat cubs. Typical fox behaviour includes caching (burying) their surplus food and it is not improbable that they'd choose a soft patch of earth to dig, they won't care if it's in a pot.

A male Fox coming into a territory will sometimes kill cubs fathered by a rival. Squirrels also cache food and love the soft soil in pots. A small cubs head would be ok for a grey to move,

There are 'Burying' Beetles' that can bury a whole animal remains but I too think an adult fox is most likely.
Hereabouts foxes bury golf balls, stupidly thinking that they're eggs.
