I have an ipod and itunes on my pc. There are two user accounts on the pc, mine and a friends. The Itunes software is accesible to both accounts but the music I put on mine is not available to my friends and the vice-versa.My friend does not have an ipod - he listens to itunes music on the pc. So: my itunes has different music to his even though its the one software package.

My question - if he buys an ipod nano can he simply plug it in and it will download the music on his itunes or will he have to load software specific to his ipod nano. If he does have to load new software will he have to load itunes and will that mess my itunes up?

The nano will run off his existing iTunes software (provided it's a recent version).
