Dame Maggie Smith

Went to see the new Maggie Smith film this afternoon. It's called The Miracle Club and, much as I liked the cast, the storyline is poor.  No surprises, very predictable and not one I would recommend.

No, the Michael Caine film is called The Great Escaper. The Miracle Club has Maggie Smith, Kathy Bates and Laura Linney as the main characters.

Sadly PP even the wonderful Maggie Smith could not redeem this film.

Michael Caine is in The Great Escaper with the late Glenda Jackson.

The problem I found with The Miracle Club (other than promising more than it delivered) was the casting. I'm not going to give the story away, but I struggled knowing the ages of the female actors in real life, with the timeline of the story in the film.

maggie smith was great in the missionary and a private function very funny films, and of course the prime of miss jean brodie.
