Why not? Mr Starmer has always been so very keen on inquiries in the past.

and yes it does look a bit conflicty - "My wife is above suspicion because I say so" (Julius Cheezer)
well he wd say that wdnt he? ( our Mand 1962)
with a majority of 200, you can do anything - and it was only a few months since Boris found either he or his pals were in breach of the rules so BoJo ( bless) said " Let's change the rules!"
I don't really care there's not going to be an inquiry, but of course by dint of which Starmer will say this in of itself exonerates him and he's aready said "rules are being followed"...but this isn't really the point.
The point is, this is a man who often bleated about cronyism, and yet as a man of considerable means he accepted £20k worth of suits and specs, and his wife reportedly received £5k of stuff, from the same donor who was granted unfettered access to No.10 - this is cronyism, and the man is a complete hypocrite.
In January of this year he promised a “total crackdown on cronyism”. Perhaps he should have said a “total crackdown on cronyism...other than for me”. It really isn't a good look for him to be receiving these freebies when he's been so vocal in the past.
To coin Gulliver's phrase, they just can't help it, can they?
oh how bloody convenient lol.
i saw david lammy yesterday claiming that starmer and his lady wife have accepted £23k worth of fancy clothing from lord ali because "they want to look their best for the country".
the kind of lying one would expect from a banana republic... or from boris johnson. utterly embarrassing and corrupt!!
Indeed Untitled.
The difference is though, if it was Johnson who accepted £25k worth of freebies, there'd have been people on AB skipping to their keyboards with gay abandon in order to pile-in. Remember when Johnson had free use of a villa? AB was awash with people piling-in, but other than for some of us, Starmer seems to get a pass. Funny that.
No I think the usual suspects have been sniffy about it as well.
I admit that Boris in the Clown Circus - sozza 10 Downing St - exasperated ( everyone) so much that any pigs-may-fly story - Boris has apptd soeone to the House of Lords because he was screwing her - obviously untrue
gained purchase and open mouthed disbelief
I love Lammy's comment as highlighted by untitled, that Starmer accepted the freebies to look good for the British public. Surely a man worth millions has the wherewithal to pay for his own clothes to look good for the British public.
Lammy is an idiot. How can he come out with such inane bullsiht with a straight face.
This Government is mired in sleaze.
