What,at almost double the price?

I fly BA if they fly to the destination I want and if the times are right.  Otherwise I have to take what's an offer. Maybe that's why he flew with the Polish airline.

I think Canary might be playing with us.

I would guess all airlines are the same. They're not going to have wheelchairs on board until they're made to by whoever is in charge of these things.
One reason Husband and I haven't been on holiday for years is that there's no guarantee of help at each end of the journey.

Didn't occur to OP that a BA flight may not have been available.

(Or, that things don't always go to plan with BA ).

Wasn't Tanni Grey-Thompson stuck on a BA flight recently? (not sure)

I imagine most airlines cater for disabled people.  Mr Gardner must be a frequent flier.  He would know what to expect.

Do we own British Airways ?

she was stuck on a train - operated by LNER, but the identity of the train company is largely irrelevant.

they all paint rainbows on their trains and claim to be inclusive, but they are not, none of them. The disabled are nowhere in sight.

BA sub-contract flights to various airlines, so if there is a BA flight advertised to say, Barcelona, it may well be subbed out to a Spanish airline. Or one to/from warsaw would be subbed out to a Polish airline.

Sorry, I should have posted in Chatterbank.

And yes, I'm well aware of the points you've all made.

//What,at almost double the price?//

Well not necessarily.  We flew BA to Majorca and it was cheaper then RyanAir (like for like).  Sadly BA are no longer flying from Southampton though.

And arnt they Spanish anywy?

// And arnt they Spanish anywy? //

half Spanish. International Airlines Group (IAG) was created when BA and Iberia merged. IAG's registered office is in Madrid, but the corporate HQ is in London. IAG is listed on London and Madrid stock exchanges.

In fairness it is easy to make assumptions, in this case that in our "modern world" all airlines have made basic provisions for the disabled; but if one is disabled it might be thought that one would check this as a priority. After all, what if there were more disabled passengers travelling than there were sufficient provision for ? In this particular case that was so, given 1 disabled passenger is greater than 0 supplied provision.

Yes one can also assume that an airline bearing one's nation's name would be a good bet, and one would like to blow one's own nation's trumpet anyway; but my understanding is that most airlines do make provisions, and he was simply unfortunate enough to select one that doesn't. He'll have lived and learnt.

09.09 thanx mushroom for that. I was referring to international airways group plc.  I bought BA shares many moons ago and wasn't told they'd been taken over.

An American airline, I think Delta, is working on a seat that lifts up and a passengers own wheelchair can be secured in place

I once flew to Warsaw with Polish Airlines (LOT) and the mostly Polish passengers all clapped whe the plane landed - rather cute, I thought.
