Banned advert - why??

Anyone remember the ad where a guy is lying on his couch feeling rough and all of a sudden spews up a dog? Why was this banned?? Cant remember what it was advertising!

It's an advert for a breath freshening mint. I didn't know it was banned though, I've seen it within the last week or so.

probably because a lot of children and grannies found it frightening. It was shocking and it makes the point that you can go too far with shock tactics in ads. Lets face it all anyone remembers is the dog part which kind of defeats the object when its the product theyre trying to sell.

It hasn't been banned, but Wrigleys recently voluntarily agreed to show the ad only after the 9pm watershed. The ITC received loads of complaints, mainly from parents who said the ad frightened their kids and made them scared of their pet dogs.

Camloulou, isn't a lot of advertising to make you remember the advert and therefore the product aswell. It would appear that Wrigley's have done a good job cos it's got us lot talking about it.

NickleArse, I think his point has been justified. Yes we remember the advert but whats it for, OK breath mints but which one nobody has been able to say which actually brand it was (Wrigleys yes but which ones).

It was for the Excite brand of breath fresheners from Wrigleys and mediaweek tells me it was initially limited to post watershed slots and then withdrawn altogether due to the volume of complaints.

Adverts are designed to be remembered though often the brand association doesn't work, does any one remember the creature comforts advertisements created by Nick "Wallace & Grommit" Park?... remember what they were advertising?

I'm pretty sure those creature comfort ads were advertising gas products from British Gas. Though I'm not sure.

Actually the creature comfort ads where for heating your home with economy seven ELECTRIC heating... though everyone you ask says gas!
