Bloody women.
32 Answers
At my Lodge (non-masonic, don't do all that funny handshake business) we may have to bow to the latest politically correct brigade and allow the fairer sex in.
At the moment we do not even employ female staff. Which is fair enough as there are many an expensive car in the rather tight carpark, and their presence will only put our insurance premiums up even further due to their parking ability (moreover, lack of it).
Although I am an avid anti-smoker, the Lodge (even though it is private) has to cease its current smoking policy under new legislation. Again fair enough, though this has proved very unpopular with the cigar brigade.
My question, directed at bloody women...........
Do you give a damn if gentlemen have their own little clubs? Do you really want to sit in a room with stuffy old and middle aged codgers talking about cricket and the advantages of ABS?
I strongly suspect the answer is no. So why, preytell, is there a national debate re. this?
Why can't you just keep your bloody nose out of our business. Stick to shopping for shoes and talking about periods and leave us to our golf, cricket, and gentleman clubs.

Hmmm, i totally agree with you. All this stupid equal rights rubbish.
Next they will have unisex showers.
Men will get 6 months maternity leave and be paid the same as women.
Men will get free drinks on certain nights on town clubs.
Men wont have to pay when they go to the cinema or for a meal.
Men wont get sent to prison, they will just get community service.
I could go on all day, but had better not...

I am a woman. I dont think you need to tell us to 'Stick to shopping for shoes and talking about periods.....' but I certainly dont have any objection to there being men only clubs. My mum is a member of a bowling club - she does not get to use the club as often as the men do and I know this annoyes her but she does pay reduced fees. If I was not happy with a clubs rules then I just would not join that club - not fight to have them changed. At my dads golf club some of the good women golfers fought to have equal access - they now do but pay the full fees.
To Hellyon and Champers. What exactly goes on at these Women only clubs?
I have a lovely image that you exchange knitting patterns and fruit loaf recipes. However, the reality is more like a discussion of the power to size ratio of the latest Rabbit, or a moan that Don Johnson isn't the man he once was. Am I close to the mark?

I don't want equality. I want to keep things the way they are; with toots from white van man to boost my already swollen ego (*bishop*), men carrying my heavy bags, opening doors for me, paying for dinner and being able to cross the road during busy traffic because some bloke wants to ogle whilst I cross the road in front of him.

Skreechy, I only attend the Lodge two or three times a month, if that. If I want to spend time with women, there are usually a few tarts in my local.
I have to say though, and this is just my cup of tea. I do prefer the company of men. Apart from the sexual angle, I really have nothing in common with the fairer sex.

a club without any female staff!!!not even a nice busty barmaid to say hello and ask you how youre feeling?to smile at you so you can forget about the miseries your old missus is moaning about at home and the day to day grind?no barmaid to laugh at your bad jokes and cheer you up?is graham norton a member of your lodge?

this single equality law that is being discuss in the news will only apply to clubs etc that presently do allow each sex access but at different times etc, for example the gold course that allows women but only after 3pm. If a club is single sex it can still remain single sex... so your lodge should be a women free haven for the foreseeable future just as the women only gyms will be testosterone free for a while yet (well until the russian female shot-putt team come to visit)
