I think all advertising for holidays to Portugal should be banned. How can anyone trust a country whose police has handled this case in such a messy way? I would defiantly not be taking my family there again. I also think that rich personalities like Sir Cliff Richard who lives there should uproot and move to a country that would spend the tax that he pays on his vineyards etc. On a better police force.

I have also decided that because I have now got the hump with Sir Cliff Richard, I will try and sell all the records that I have him and send any money that I receive to Madeleine's fund. If I can't sell them I know just the place for them on the 5th November!

Totter I have tried to stay out of this one, but i had to come in and congratulate you on your 5 star staying power. You are right, there is a clique on this News forum. Not all AB forums are like this. This clique have already decided that the parents murdered Madeleine McCann. Some because they have not seen the parents shed any tears. Apparently that is not normal!! Some say the McCanns started the fund so that they can jet around the world enjoying their celebrity status. Some are even saying that all the ridiculous theories leaked to the press or made up by the press are evidence. And for Gods sake do not criticise the Portugese police or they will report you for being Xenophobic. They can call the McCanns every name under the sun, sometimes using the most awful language disguised with astericks. I dont know why the people who moderate this forum allow it. And yes I agree with you, that it is very very annoying when this clique start to talk gibberish in the hope of putting you off. They dont want to hear from anyone who thinks that Madeleine was abducted. They have already decided that she was not .
IMHO I believe that she was abducted and is probably now dead, and my heart grieves for her and her poor family. I accept that they were wrong to leave the children alone, But apart from that I believe they have done nothing wrong. I cannot understand why people are being so nasty. But look through previous threads about this subject and you will see what I mean.

After reading through the posts here, i found that the majority of people here are sound level headed folk. I do think there is something suspicious about this case but then we (the public) dont know all the evidence we only know what has been in the media and we can`t take that as the honest gospel, the media serves it`s own ends with a scant regard for the truth sometimes. But to sugest that we BAN something that is both perfectly legal (holidaying in portugal) because of one event, an abiet tragic one is the exact sort of reaction that the media wishes us to have, they whip up the public into a frenzy and then point at them and say "see, see the public are in a frenzy something MUST be done" for the reason is that it serves their end to do so, tragedy sells newspapers more than happiness does.

We`ve all heard the specualtion about sleeping pills, and blood in apartments and cars but i havent heard a peep about any "foreign DNA" being found at the scene, which is suspicious in itself. The police there might not (note i say might) be doing a good job but i`d hazard a guess that they know far more about investigating a crime than the OP does.

Again I say to BAN something simply because "you" dont agree with it sounds familiar to me, it`s the same way that people have been controlled since the beginning of civilied society,...

...How far is it then from banning an advert to burning a book (and who did that?) and demonising all the decent folk of portugal in the process.

I post this to all the contibutors in this thread, and dont much care what the OP comes back at me with as the havent added anything to support their view, instead covering the same ground over and over.

"toole" said that the OP has the staying power to "win" this argument, but the last I checked winning an argument didnt solely consist of beating your point into the ground, so by my estimation they wont be winning anything, as the ground they cover again and yet again seems to be insult people and call folk names, which are not the signs of winning an argument, instead they are the signs of not being able to properly support thier own kneejerk reaction.

I could go on to SUPPORT my point of view for a long long time with genuine points and facts but hey The OP wont listen anyway so what would be the point.

Evidence is needed to charge someone with murder.

sambro, i agree with your answer, and commend you on presenting it in a calm and pleasant manner, I capitalised the IF to make it noticable to everyone that I was saying that there is still at the moment an abiguity to the case and that every opinion presented by the PUBLIC is based on sceondhand and "media biased" information.

My point being that nobody should really second guess the police who are trained at investigating crimes whereas I would say the majority of the people commenting are not, if it is proved that it was NOT the parents then the people who may have accused them can take back there opinion and admit they were wrong, as can anyone who believed she was abducted can, however the point that i made to which you replied was directed towards the OP who made a point of saying that he/she intends to send money (which cannot be taken back) and berates Cliff Richard who is in no way connected to the case at all due to his choice of country of residence.

I do not know as does no one else unconnected with the investigation, the facts of the case other than those presented by the media which as i said is guilty of serving it`s own wants and needs, so any opinion presented here is just speculation by people not completely aquainted with the case.

And as i expected the OP answers my post with nothing that carries any wieght just more base insults and yet again accuses people of being upset/furious while displaying all those tendancies themself and all the while maintaining a holier than thou attitude, as if their opinion and that is what it is no more than opinion is "more" right than anyone else`s.

The rampant media speculation can only harm the case and skew public opinion in one direction or the other, we the public should allow the police to investigate fully and present their evidence in full before we accuse them of mismanaging the case, as I suspect that evidence has been kept back as not to
