The Worst Possible News

Took my old boy for his tests this morning and found out that he has a massive growth in front of his heart which is inoperable.
It is this growth that is making him go off his food and not want to move very much.

My daughter down at Surrey Uni is heartbroken and wants to jump in her car and come home. I've said no to that.
Will know more when I pick him up shortly.

I hate 2011.

Just awful when these things happen - and haven't most of us been in the same situation so we really do know how you feel. He's lucky to have such a caring owner who will do the right thing by him - euthanasia - latin for good death and this is just what all our pets deserve, sadly though it isn't what all pets get. He looks such a great dog Chrissa1. lots of pats and spoiling from me.

So sorry to read this, I do feel for you.

If I can suggest a piece of practical advice when the time comes -

if the vet comes to you, say your goodbyes to him, and then all leave the room and leave him with the vet. Ask the vet to take him out of the house as quietly as possible, and make sure you are in a room with no view of the vet going out with him, or if that is not possible, draw the curtains in advance.

That way you won't suffer seeing him going on his way to peace and freedom from pain.

I would see how he is next Monday and give chance for your daughter to see him...... he is moving, albeit slowly wagging his tail.......just see how it goes.

A dog that runs its tongue round the mouth can be in some discomfort so hope the vet gave you something to help. I agree about being there when your pet goes, though one never forgets holding a pet when the spark goes out. Feel for you chrissa as does anyone who has been through it.
