Have you anything minty? EG polo mints? Also, I've got a sneaky feeling when I was a child my mum givinig me a cup of cooled boiled water helped, however it had to be sipped as hot as you could tolerate.

Hope you're better soon.

thanks ive got polo,s, never had pain like it ...xxx
This is a difficult one.........

Eat small amounts of food and drink plenty of fluids.

Proton pump inhibitors e.g Omeprazole may give relief (you may have been taking some before your operation.

If you have diarrhea as well, then cholestryine may help, but if you don't, then forget it.

keep us informed.

thank you, havent got runs so will take that tablet you said, sorry cant spell..will let ya know how i go on..
Mr Alba takes omeprazole, trust me, they do alleviate his wind.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but proton PUMP inhibitors, who thinks these things up?!

Seriously, I do hope you get some relief soon. xx
Question Author
thanks, i have them but it says on box just one a day, is this right or can i take more?
Just had a look at Mr Alba's box, he's on 20mg and it too says ONE daily, The ONE being in bold print.

Give your GP's surgery a phone as soon as they open to ask for help.
Forget what it says on the box........take 40 mgms now and depending upon the result or lack of it take another 40 mgms in 4 hours.

will do ta again..
I bow to your wisdom Sqad, as I always do xx

I'm just very lucky not to be on any meds at all, well, at the moment but hate to read of people in pain and discomfort.
alba.....how low can you bow? LOL....are there any alternatives to a "bow?".....;-)

This is a part of the post cholecystectomy syndrome....which may be difficult, in some cases, to treat.
I would ask how low would you like, but thought better of it lol.
The alternative Bow gets loosened and the hair falls over the shoulders.

So sorry hockenc.
alba.........LOL......that would do me fine........LOL

Cheers so much everyone..today has been so much better so i may sleep tonight!!!
I had mine out in early March and am still suffering with similar symptoms to before, not the attacks but the evil burning in my shoulderblades and lots and lots of air! I'm still having to be very careful what I eat, especially fat. Tried two microwave meals since when knackered so wanted something quick and both times the aftereffects were horrible so sticking pretty much to the same diet as before.

For the air I initially got a lot of mints with peppermint in. Got omeprazole too and am prescribed 40mg for that. I also kept myself propped up, even in bed, on a V pillow. I found it hard to get comfy as could only lie on my back in bed and find it hard to get to sleep on my back.

In desperation the other week I bought some charcoal tablets from Boots to try and soak up excess air and they definitely helped get it out. It comes back but helps at least get rid of what's there at the time.

Be careful when you take them though as polite company might not be advised when getting the air out and the tablets also tend to go straight through me (also had really bad diarroea since including incidents I've not quite made it, literally like large volumes of water sometimes) and since it comes out pretty black some loo cleaner on standby too.

I'm on cholastagel anyway as had bile acid malabsorption before the gallstones problems cropped up.

Hope it settles soon, it's not nice. I asked a question after I had my gallbladder out, will try to find it to post a link.
