cat drinking a lot
Hello, cat experts.
Our cat, age 14, finished all of the water in her bowl last night and has been drinking a lot this morning. Never happened before.
She seems fine.Coat looks fine. Isn't looking unwell, hasn't vomitted or anything. Don't think she is having any problem peeing, but how would one tell ? Only unusual thing is her drinking.
We've measured out her water so we can get an idea of how much she is taking in.
Any ideas ? Or is it vet tomorrow ? Can it wait till tomorrow ? As I said, other than the drinking, she seems fine, doing all her usual things.
She has always had dried food since she was a kitten.

Two of the family cats had diabetes and kidney problems which initially manifested as drinking a lot whilst still looking happy and healthy, it can be largely silent at first. Increased hunger and weightloss were later signs. Get her checked out as the earlier they find it the more they can do to help.
True BM. I'm afraid mine wouldn't eat some days if I didn't tempt her with treats. Better something than nothing is my motto. I'm more worried about her water intake as she won't drink tap water, bottled water, milk, kitten milk, kitten milk mixed with water, only rain water that I catch with a jug hung over my balcony, or the contents of the bird bath with a nice dollop of bird poo in it. As we can go a month down here without rain it's a constant battle with her. I wonder if others have the same problem and how they deal with it.
