if yo are walking your dog in the snow and you walk over the grit put down by the council, pls wash your dog's paws on return. The council mix antifreeze with the grit and if dog licks its paws it could be fatal. Better to be safe than sorry.

Dee thanks for that advice x
Thank you, Dee. I wasn't aware of that.
I wasn't aware of that, in fact, it wouldn't even have crossed my mind. Cheers.
Had a problem with our dog in the snow years ago, he used to walk about on pavements and crossing roads 200yds or so then stop and start lifting his paws like a gecko!

Vet said the salt in the road grit was getting into cracks in his pads and to apply Vaseline before taking him out.

Thanks for that Dee Sa, I never even give it a thought. Yogi hates me washing his paws so that'll be fun.
My dog is long coated and has a lot of fur between the pads of his paws, which unfortunately collects snow when we're out walking in the winter.
One answer to this problem is 'dog snow boots', keeps out snow and ice plus salt, grit, mud etc.
If you type the words into the search panel at the top of this page, you should be able to find about 7 or 8 suppliers. Hope this is helpful

Good tip Dee.
