Lump On Dog

We have just noticed a lump on charlie our 11 year old whippet/jr cross, I know older dogs get lumps and bumps, she is fine in herself, eating drinking eating well, I can't tell you how long she has had it, it is the size of a large marble near her anus about 1/2inch lower on the top of her left leg, think of a chicken leg at the market its at the back of the thigh, not causing any discomfort, now I know it is there, I will keep an eye on it for a week to see if it grows, do any of you have dogs with lumps in simular places, it is definately not anal gland compact,

Almost certainly an adenoma, which is benign, but certain types can be malignant.

Take him to the vet for an excision biopsy.

The alternative, second best, is to watch and monitor the situation.

Squad, this is an internal lump, with no leasions just a lump that will move but i think connected to something lol, when googled pics come up of what molly my 16 year old dog has, this lump is moveable within the skin but connected by a vein or something like that the mass so to speak seems to be contained to a vein or something, to the base underneath, you are great, any input you are giving is great. mine had one in exactly the same place - it was a mast cell tumour

I;d take her to the vet, josaphine, to get it checked out. My cat had one which was a huge boil under the skin. You won't know until the vet checks it out.

Josaphine to 'lump on' means to put all your money on in a bet, eg on a greyhound so Lump On Dog might indicate you are going to give us the name of a dog to put our houses on! Sounds like some sort of cyst to me, I have one in my neck that you can get hold of nearly all round and it moves slightly but is anchored in one place. I'd just keep an eye on it for a while.

I had a similar problem with my dog, so I took him to the vet. The vet thought it best to remove it and send off for a biopsy. Luckily it was benign, but I was warned it could come back. This was over three years ago and thankfully it hasn't come back.

just a suggestion but why don't you take several photographs of the lump (from different angles) - may well prove helpful to you vet.

Thanks all for your help, the lump has not changed, I will keep an eye on it till monday, and book a vets appointment, she is a little edgy, but I think I have caused that, they pick up on energy, she has not left my side today, as last night I mothered her........not good with 4 dogs, I will get a vets appointment 4 mon,

I hope so, been a crap week so far, my little lady I looked after for the last 4 years died on friday 23rd at 1am, it was my birthday on 22nd, she held on till the next day, so now no job, but glad she is at peace, rest her soul, I got a humdinger of a cold and feel like crap, now this,

The vet checked her out all over, thankfully its a fatty lump, he syringed some out to put on plain white paper to show me that it was greasy fat, I am just to keep an eye on it, I feel so much better now, I never slept a wink last night, I thought it would be the third bit of bad news, thank you for all for your help, x x
