Not Really A Question But......

as you probably know my 15.5 year old cat has just been diagnosed with diabetes. We have been injecting her with insulin twice a day and all is going well.

It is just that she has started with some quite funny behaviour. Every time we fill up her bowl of water and place it in the usual place, she moves it into the middle of the room. To be honest, we never quite know where the bowl is going to be in the morning and we've tripped over it numerous times.

I suppose it must be because of all the change to her feeding routine, etc. Has anyone else had this happen? It is not a problem but just quite amusing.

I dont mean to laugh ruth, but that is quite comical, and never happened to me when i had a cat for 20yrs. lol

Laugh away pusskin, I do. It really is amusing to watch her and now she's started peeing in my plant pot. It's nice to see her having a bit of 'fun'.

Had an awkward moment earlier, my daughter dropped half a tub of chocolate milkshake powder. You can guess what the cat tried to do............. I nearly had a heart attack trying to get her out of the way.

You have a senile cat. I used to have a blind, senile and grumpy cat. It was like living with my dad. Even now it makes me smile to think of both of them.

I gather chocolate is potentially fatal to dogs. Is it bad for cats too?

Or is it that the milkshake powder is mostly sugar and thus dangerous to the cat because she is diabetic?

My wee lad takes steroids for his asthma. He drinks more water as a side effect. When he goes to the litter tray it sounds like a huge waterfall, if wasn't peering over the edge of the tray and up the wall it would be funnier.

I am glad your princess is feeling a bit better and you sound more relaxed. I freak out when my two are ill.

My male cat started dragging the water bowl,before i moved house,he still tries to do it,but now he also puts his foot in it-literally lol. I've tried various ways to stop the mess(always got newspaper underneath!) such as one dish inside another,but just have to accept it.Makes you wonder why they get these strange habits.

Like so many felines, even the mighty lions in the African plains, my cat drags his food away from his bowl to eat somewhere in private. He is an only cat and my dog does not have access to the hall where I feed my cat. But deep instinct tells him to take his kill to where nobody else will disturb him or pinch it. Maybe your cat wants to ensure it is guaranteed all the water, and by moving it that means there is less chance of you finding it and pinching some of it? Being type 1 diabetic myself I know it can increase thirst so your cat may become more protective of its source of water.
